Chinese New Year is the most important festival in China. Traditionally, Chinese will do auspicious things to attract good luck for the new year. They will decorate their houses with full of flowers and plants that will “bring luck and fortune”. In this article, we will talk about 8 lucky plants and flower for Chinese New Year.

1. Orchids

Orchids are symbols of beauty, elegance, love, fertility, luxury wealth, and uniqueness.

During the Spring Festival, most of the people in China love to decorate their houses with orchids.Since these kinds of flowers are elegant and pretty by themselves already. Among all varieties of orchids, the butterfly orchid is a popular festive flower, with good meanings of happiness, vitality and longevity.

    2.Peach Blossoms

    Speaking of Spring Festival, you can’t miss out the peach blossoms. Throwing back to my childhood, I still remember buying the peach blossoms tree with my parents at the flower markets. Parents bargained the price with the market owner, owner loaded the tree onto our cars, we put in in a nicely decorated ceramic pots in the house... These are some unique memories of my Spring Festivals. 

    3. Narcissus

    Narcissus, or water fairy flowers, symbolize wealth, prosperity and good luck. People can grow it at home with only water. Every year, my grandpa grow some for us during the festival. The sweet scent, bright color and delicate petals make narcissus quite popular among Chinese people.

      4.Peonies

      In China peonies mean ‘king of flowers’. And are used in big, important holidays like Chinese New Year and other religious traditions. They are also known to symbolize wealth. This is because for a really long time only Chinese emperors used peonies. 

      5.Lucky Bamboo

      Chinese believe in Feng Shui. And according to it, the Lucky Bamboo attracts positive energy that is supposed to bring good health, peace, happiness, prosperity, longevity and good luck into the home that has this plant. That's why you can always spot them during some big holidays in China. 

        6.Kumquat & Tangerins Tree

        They represent “lucky tree bearing fruits”, which have the best wishes for good luck in wealth. With the bright color and auspicious meanings of wealth and good luck, it’s a good idea to put a potted kumquat tree in the house.

        7.Pussy Willows

        Pussy willows are seen as a symbol of growth, especially as the green shoots emerge from the silky buds. They are also associated with wealth because in Chinese, they are known as silver willow, which sounds like silver coins.

          8.Jade Plant

          Jade Plant, a type of evergreen with shiny leaves growing along the thick branches, is one of the Chinese New Year lucky plants.. Chinese people believe that the emerald green leaves will attract wealth luck and prosperity, as the leaves look like jade stone.
